The Difference Between Spherical Head and Elliptical Head
The spherical head is formed by the spherical crown of the spherical shell. There are two types: hemispherical head and spherical head without folding edge. It has a small surface area under the same volume and requires a thin thickness under the same pressure conditions. It is reasonable from the perspective of saving materials and strength. In addition, the spherical head has the characteristics of excellent forging, smooth surface, acid, alkali and high temperature resistance, beautiful appearance, and strong texture performance.
The elliptical head is a head composed of a rotating elliptical sphere and a cylindrical straight section. Its mechanical properties are second only to the hemispherical head, but better than the dish head. Since the depth of the elliptical head is between the hemispherical and dish heads, the requirements for stamping equipment and molds, and the manufacturing difficulty are also between the two, that is, easier than the hemispherical head and more difficult than the dish head. In addition, the elliptical head is widely used in medium and low pressure vessels due to its good comprehensive performance.
